Obituary of Louis Asif Kallasy

Mr. Louis (Weis) Asif Kallasy, 87, of Utica, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare with his loving family by his side.
Louis was born in Utica, on April 17, 1931, the son of Asif and Rose Kallasy and was a graduate of Proctor High School. On July 4, 1966, Weis was united in marriage with Edna M. Dellers, a devoted union of 48 years until Edna’s death in 2015. At one time, Weis was employed with Utica Transit Authority, later as a pizza maker with O’Scugnizzo Pizzeria and for many years, along with his wife Edna, owned and operated, Edna’s Restaurant in Utica. Weis enjoyed traveling to the Casinos, especially Turning Stone with his wife. The couple took many trips to Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Aruba and Weis especially enjoyed horse racing. He was a member of St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica.
Weis is survived by his children, Joey and Chris Kallasy of New Hartford, JoAnn Grimaldi of Whitesboro, Bob and Vicky Zysk of Yorkville and Tony and Sue Zysk of N. Utica; 10 cherished grandchildren, Dan and Barb Camerota, David and Kim Camerota, Anthony Camerota, Bob Zysk, Richie Zysk and his fiancée Erica Ingersol, Trista and Jason Brown, Tony Zysk III and Carrie Santoro, Tina and Fred Thur, Tyler Kallasy and Courtney Wheeler and Shae Kallasy and Thomas Fiorentino, Jr. as well as 12 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Lillian Kallasy and Darlene Dellers; one brother-in-law, Bob Dellers; two special friends, Frank Morelle, and Tony DeMasi; his lifelong best friend, Dominick (Doc) Rose, Jr. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Edna; son, Louis Kallasy; two sisters, Margaret Salamey and Louise Ritchey; two brothers, Joseph Kallasy and George Kallasy and son-in-law, Carmen Grimaldi.
Mr. Kallasy’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church where his Mass of the Divine Liturgy of The Faithful Departed will be celebrated. His entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday (today) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Miracle network in Weis’ memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
