Ronald A. Lombardi, 61, of Utica, NY passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Faxton – St. Luke’s Healthcare after a heroic battle with cancer. Ronald was born in Utica on April 27, 1957 the son of the late Amerino and Christine (Scampone) Lombardi. Ron was an avid sports fan who followed many of his favorite teams including the NY Giants, Boston Celtics and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He loved Thoroughbred Racing and spent summers at Saratoga Racecourse. For many years he was employed at Capital District Off Track Betting in Utica and Rome, a job he truly enjoyed. Ronald is survived by his sister, Adele Reilly of Utica, NY, three nieces, Michele LaGase and husband, Jeffrey of Utica, NY, Nicole DeGiglio of Utica, NY, and Nadine DeGiglio of Utica, NY, a nephew, Daniel Reilly and wife, Paloma of Brooklyn, NY, and a cousin, Philip Scampone and wife, Carol of Utica, NY. Ronald was predeceased by a sister, Angela DeGiglio, a brother-in-law, Dennis Reilly and a cousin, Angela Minicone. The family is grateful for the care and compassion of Dr. Manzurul Sikder, Debra Iselo, N.P. and the outstanding staff at Slocum Dickson as well as the friendship and support of his friends Dave, Trish and Cathy whom he thought of as his work family.
