Christine M. Hammersmith, 65, of Mooresville, NC passed away on November 1, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. Christine was born in Utica on April 22, 1953, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Banas) Furmanski. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On October 20, 1973, Christine was united in marriage to Ronald Hammersmith, at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. She was a parishioner of St. Philip The Apostle Church in North Carolina. Christine is survived by her husband, Ronald, her three children, Kathleen Hammersmith, of NC, Scott Hammersmith, of NC, and Sarah Johnson and husband, Mark, of NC, a granddaughter, Lillian Rose Johnson, of NC, her mother-in-law, Marie Hammersmith, of Remsen, a sister-in-law, Suzanne Furmanski, of Clinton and many nieces and nephews. Christine was predeceased by her brother, Richard Furmanski in 2002 and her sister Barbara Furmanski on October 17, 2018. Christine’s funeral will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 10:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 11:00 at St. Joseph’s and St. Patrick’s Church, Utica. Entombment will take place in the Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum of Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 3-5.
