Mrs. Betty S. Gadway, 74, a longtime resident of Marcy, NY and recently a resident of Valley Residential in Herkimer, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the St. Luke’s Home. Betty was born in Utica, on November 10, 1943, the daughter of Royce and Mildred (Dolly) Smith. She was raised in Schuyler and a graduate of Whitesboro Central School District. On October 15, 1966, Betty was united in marriage with Lawrence F. Gadway at St. Mark’s Church in Utica. At one time, Betty was employed part time with WKTV, and for 30 years, enjoyed her antique business. She was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro. Mrs. Gadway is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Gadway of Schuyler and Joseph and Stacy Gadway of Sauquoit; three cherished grandchildren, Charles Lundgren of Schuyler and Sierra Gadway and Cody Gadway both of Sauquoit; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sonja Smith of SC as well as three nieces and several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Royce and Dolly and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eugene and Frances Gadway. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica, with interment immediately following at Carr Cemetery in Marcy. Those wishing to make a donation in Betty’s memory, please consider the American Cancer Society or the Connor Lynskey Scholarship Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Mrs. Gadway’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Valley Residential Nursing Facility in Herkimer, the staff of the 6th floor and the Interventional Radiology Department at St. Luke’s Hospital and Clark North at St Luke’s Home, for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Betty.
