Jean Horn Paye Burton, 87, of N. Utica, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at home with her loving family by her side. Jean was born in Utica, NY, on December 11, 1930, daughter of the late Clarence P. (Doc) and Helena Kenney Heburn Horn. She was a graduate of Utica Free Academy, Class of 1949. On May 31, 1952, Jean married James E. Paye. He passed away in 1966. On June 8, 1983, Jean married James (Harlie) Burton in Utica, NY, he passed away in 2003. Jean and Jim resided in California and the State of Washington until moving back to the Utica area in 1987. Jean was employed by Savings Bank of Utica for twenty-five years and was a communicant of St. Mark’s Catholic Church in N. Utica. She enjoyed golfing with her family, friends and playing bingo with her special group of friends. Jean is survived by her loving children: three sons and two daughters-in-law, James R. and Mary (Egan) Paye, Pennelville, NY, John M. and Lauralee (Ashcraft) Paye, Utica, Jeffery D. Paye, Utica, and a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne P. and Nicholas P. Bush, Rome, seven grandchildren: Brittney Paye, Philadelphia, PA, Emily Paye, Pennelville, NY, Keegan Paye, Utica, Alexandra Paye, Bronx, NY, Laura (Bush) Jenkins, and her husband Mark, Hertford, NC, Nicholas M. Bush, Park City, UT, Christopher Zalewski, New Hartford, NY, Jenna (Zalewski) Lane and her husband Michael, Clinton, nine great- grandchildren, step children, Stephanie Burton, CA, and John Burton, ID, step-grandchildren, Cory Burton, CA, and Jennifer (Burton) Genung, and her husband Kelly, ID. Also surviving are a sister, Rita Entwistle, Sandy, UT, and sister-in-law, Nancy Horn, New Hartford and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Evan Paye, a sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Donald Miekam, brothers and sister-in-law, James, Bernard, John and Betty Horn, a brother-in-law, George Entwistle, half- brothers, Clark and Charles Heburn and a step-son, Christopher Burton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 440 Keyes Rd., Utica with the Rev. Mark Pasik officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, N. Utica. Friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd. N.
