Mrs. Patricia Inez Lawler, 82, a resident of the St. Luke’s Home in New Harford, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at the nursing home. Patricia was born in E. Syracuse, NY on March 7, 1936, the daughter of Arthur and Virginia (North) Sholes. She was raised and educated in Utica and attended Utica schools. On November 7, 1970, Patricia was united in marriage with James Lawler. At one time, Patricia was employed with UNIVAC and later, as a certified nurse’s aide with the Masonic Care Community in Utica. Patricia was proud to be a Born-Again Christian. She enjoyed cooking, playing frackel (a dice game) and was an avid bingo player, but her greatest joy came from caring for others. Mrs. Lawler is survived by her loving husband, James, of Whitesboro; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Virginia and Floyd Smith of Cape Vincent, NY, Kathy Rehm of Cape Vincent, NY and Donna and Robert Johnston of SC; three sons and one daughter-in-law, William Nunes of Schuyler, Kenneth and Dawn Rehm of Utica and Donald Rehm of Whitesboro as well as 25 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Patricia Pearl Jachowski, granddaughter, Debra Bayer, sister, Sally Talerico and two brothers, Floyd Sholes and Nelson Sholes. A memorial service, celebrating Patricia’s life, will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday, from 3:00-5:00, prior to the service. Her burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
