Thomas George Brondou, 67, formerly of Utica, NY and Lighthouse Point, FL, passed away on September 7th, 2018 in Bel Air, Maryland surrounded by his beloved children and family. Tom was born in Utica, NY to George and Marie Brondou on August 27, 1951. He graduated from JFK high school in Utica, class of 1969. Following graduation, Tom worked as a lineman for Niagara Mohawk for 43 years. He was a parishioner of St. Peters Church of Utica and was proudly involved with the Kilowatt Chasers. Tom loved his family dearly and looked forward to spending his days with his three children, three grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Tom enjoyed being on the water whether the St. Lawrence from Alexandria Bay, NY or the Atlantic from Lighthouse Point, FL. His days rooting for the Rangers, Yankees, and Giants with his favorite Utica Club beer, as well as being a lifelong fan of the Moody Blues brought him great joy. Tom happily spent his retirement in Florida with travels to see family in China, Maryland and his friends in Utica. Tom is survived by his son, Gregory Brondou of Huntington Beach, CA and his wife Emily and daughter Adriana; daughter Ashleigh Grates of Bel Air, MD and her husband TJ and children Colin and Cameron; and daughter Jessica Brondou of Alexandria, VA. Tom’s siblings include sister Nancy Caraway; brother and sister-in law Gerry and Angela Brondou; brother Bernie Brondou; sister Carol Sweeney; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Tom is predeceased by his parents, George and Marie Brondou. Calling hours will be Thursday, September 13th, 5:30-8:30 pm at Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd. Utica, NY. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 14th, 10:0 0am at Historic Old St. John’s church, 240 Bleecker St, Utica, NY. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
