Francis J. Humbrecht, 89, of North Utica, passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2018. Francis was born in Utica on June 4, 1929, a son of Xavier and Eugenia (Yehl) Humbrecht. Francis served in the Army from 1949-1953 and then served in the National Guard for 22 years. In Utica in 1975, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Mathy. For many years until his retirement in 1989, Francis was employed with General Electric Co. in Utica. He was a member of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, Utica, American Legion Post #229, Utica Maennerchor, Society of the First Infantry Division and Quarter Century Club of General Electric. Francis is survived by his wife, Kathleen, a son, John X. Humbrecht, of CO, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Betsy Mathy Sr., of Sauquoit, a special niece, Kimberly Ulrich and husband, Mike, of W. Nyack, NY, a special nephew, Richard Mathy Jr., of Old Forge, and a cousin, Robert Burmaster and family, of Utica. Mr. Humbrecht’s funeral will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 4 – 7.
