Mrs. Margaret “Peggy” L. (Martyniuk) Gagne, 55, of Marcy, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born in Little Falls, NY on September 24, 1962 the daughter of Kornell and Beverly (Warn) Martyniuk and step-daughter of Michael Martyniuk. She was a graduate of Whitesboro High School and in 2006 earned her associate’s degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing. On June 26, 1994, in Utica, Peggy was united in marriage with Paul Gagne. At one time, Peggy was employed in the medical claims approval department with UFCW, later as a registered nurse with Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and most recently with Slocum Dickson Medical Group in the oncology department. Peggy enjoyed cooking, camping with her family, four wheeling, swimming, crafts with her friends and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, Derek and Madison. Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Paul; two daughters, Nicole Panetta and Brittany (Jessica) Panetta; one son, Logan Gagne; two step daughters, Chelsea Gagne and Melissa (Semir Fazlik) Gagne; her cherished grandchildren, Anthony Gagne, Linnea Gagne, Lajla Fazlik, Madison Panetta and Derek Lyons; two sisters, Mary (Dave) Caracane and Marguerite (David Knight) LaVine; five brothers, Peter (Janie) Martyniuk, Davy (Roxanne) Martyniuk, Charles Martyniuk, Mike (Becky) Martyniuk and Matt (Trish) Martyniuk; dear friends, Shelly McCarthy, Monica Aney and Jennifer Melnick as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Peggy’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her burial, in Evergreen Cemetery in Remsen, will be held at the convenience of her family. Calling hours for family and friends are Saturday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Peggy’s memory.
