Mrs. Jeanne P. Encarnacao, 77, of Whitesboro, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Jeanne was born in Utica on June 23, 1941, the daughter of Phillip and Bernadette (Lyons) Harris. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Catholic Academy. On September 12, 1959, Jeanne was united in marriage with James Michael Encarnacao at Historic Old St. John’s Church in Utica. For 20 years, Jeanne was employed with Sturges Manufacturing Company in Utica. She enjoyed spending time at Turning Stone Resort and Casino, but her greatest joy was spending time with her cherished grandchildren who were the light of her life. Jeanne was of the Catholic faith. Mrs. Encarnacao is survived by her husband, James; one daughter, Michele Newell of Rome; one son, David Encarnacao and Cindy Shepardson of Schuyler; three cherished grandchildren, Matthew Encarnacao and Serena of Marcy, Melissa Newell of IL, and Michael Newell of Oneida and their father, Michael Newell of Remsen; a brother-in-law, Robert Sloma of Sauquoit and a nephew Kevin Sloma and his wife Melissa and their four children of Sauquoit. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Joanne Sloma. Mrs. Encarnacao’s funeral and burial will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
