Mr. Ronald Edward Omes, Sr., 84, of Yorkville, passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at his home with his loving family by his side. Ronald was born in Rome, NY on June 29, 1933, the son of Raymond and Viola Mae (Gilbert) Omes and received his education in Rome schools. Ronald proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. On November 7, 1953, Ronald was united in Marriage with Bernice P. Haft. For many years until his retirement, Ronald was employed with Vernon Downs Race Track. He was also a member of the Utica Auxiliary Police. Ronald was a true family man, whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mr. Omes is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice; four daughters, Beverly Swift, Barbara Ann Omes, Joan Omes and Tina Omes; five sons, Donald Omes, Barry Omes and his wife Tonya, Richard Omes, Ronald Omes, Jr. and David Omes and his wife Yolanda, as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Raymond Omes and many brothers and sisters. Mr. Omes’ funeral will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
