Obituary of Jack R. Rightmier

Mr. Jack R. Rightmier, 82, of N. Utica, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford, with his loving family by his side.
Jack was born in Utica on November 12, 1935, the son of Earl and Mable (Luther) Rightmier. He was raised in Utica and was a 1953 graduate of Utica Free Academy. Jack honorably served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Jack met the love of his life, Frances Strycharz in 1954, and on September 7, 1957 the couple were married and have shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. For 35 years, he was employed as a bridge engineer with the NY State Department of Transportation. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and competitive shooting, with his son Karl, at Paris Gun Club. He was also a member of the Trenton Fish and Game Club, Utica Maennerchor and was of the Protestant faith.
Mr. Rightmier is survived by his beloved wife, Frances; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Earl and Kim Rightmier of Marcy, Karl and Tammy Rightmier of Utica and Paul Rightmier of Utica and Sally N. Lavine of Utica. Seven cherished grandchildren, Craig Rightmier and his wife Elizabeth of Fairport, NY, Jessica Rightmier and her fiancé Matt Thomson of Whitesboro, Eric Rightmier of Marcy, Haley Bottini and her husband Mike of Rome, Kyle Rightmier of Utica, Bella Rightmier of Utica and Cody Fitzsimmons of Arizona; three adored great grandchildren, William Rightmier, Lucas Rightmier and Carlo Bottini; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Carlo Cuccaro of Utica as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Rightmier, sister, Marge Cox and mother-in-law, Mary (Fondario) Narbone.
Mr. Rightmier’s funeral will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. His Rite of Committal and entombment with be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Utica. Mr. Rightmier’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Dialysis Center at Faxton Hospital for the wonderful care you provided to Jack. A special thankyou to the doctors and nurses in the ER at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford for the wonderful efforts you put forth in the care of Jack.
