Erhard L. Gantner, 79, of the Presbyterian Home passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Erhard was born in Hockenhein, Germany on June 28, 1938, a son of Emil and Magdalina (Gehweiler) Gantner. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a 1957 graduate of Utica Free Academy. Erhard married Margaret Murray on August 23, 1958 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. He proudly served in the National Guard from 1961 to 1967. For many years until his retirement, Erhard was employed with Mohawk Limited. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Church and a member, past president and singer in the chorus of the Utica Maennerchor. Erhard is survived by his wife Margaret, two daughters, Gretchen Jenkins and husband, Robert, of Utica and Colleen Balduzzi, of CA, seven grandchildren, Megan Jenkins, of Boston, Taryn Jenkins and Carly Jenkins, of Utica, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Colin and Jared Balduzzi, of CA, a sister, Gisela Lamkey, of FL and a sister-in-law, Carol Fuchs, of New Hartford A Memorial Mass for Mr. Gantner will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 at Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford. The family will greet guests at the conclusion of the mass. Those so wishing may make donations to the Parkinson's Association in Erhard’s memory. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Presbyterian Home for all the loving care shown to Erhard and his family during his stay there.
