Obituary of Paul Vincent Ambroze

Mr. Paul Vincent Ambroze, Sr., 97, of N. Utica, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the St. Luke’s Home in New Hartford with his loving family by his side.
Paul was born in Verona, NY on January 15, 1921, the son of Paul Felix and Mary (Butryn) Ambrozewicz. He was raised and educated in Verona, was a graduate of Verona High School and attended Utica College. Paul honorably served in The US Army, 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles), 506 P.I.R. during WW II, where he bravely parachuted into Normandy on D-Day and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge. On October 4, 1952, Paul was united in marriage with Angela Rose Tricca at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Utica. For over 30 years, Paul was employed as an accountant with Griffiss Air Force Base, retiring in 1984. He was a member of American Legion Utica Post 229 in N. Utica and was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in N. Utica. Paul enjoyed working on cars but his true passions were golfing and skiing. Mr. Ambroze is survived by his beloved wife Angela Rose; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Paul, Jr. and Joanne Ambroze of Ilion, Lawrence Ambroze of London, England and Mark Ambroze of Cold Brook; three cherished grandchildren, Caleb, Klair and Kaydee; his favorite Godson, Dr. Daniel Cannucciari (God Papa); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Palma Ambrozewicz, Angelo and Ann Tricca, Tony Tricca, Anna Tricca and Gloria Galligano as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Wankel and five brothers, Joseph, Frank, Michael, Peter (Florence) and Philip.
Mr. Ambroze’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. The family will greet visitors at the conclusion of the funeral Mass. His Rite of Committal and entombment, with military honors, will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
