Mrs. Sophie E. Davis, 86, of Fort Plain, NY, formerly of N. Utica, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, NY. Sophie was born in Portage, PA on May 16, 1931, the daughter of Michael and Thelma (Woznak) Lipsinic. She was raised and educated in Portage and was a 1951 graduate of Portage High School. In 1954, in Portage, PA, Sophie was united in marriage with Joseph P. Davis, a devoted union of 32 years until Joseph’s death in 1986. At one time Sophie was employed with E. Cramer and Son’s clothing store in New Hartford. She enjoyed cooking and shopping, especially for clothes. She was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Church in N. Utica. Mrs. Davis is survived by two sons, Joseph M. Davis of Utica and Brian Davis and his partner, Eric Brown of Fort Plain, NY as well as several nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was pre-deceased by her son, Jeffrey Alan Davis, a sister, Dorothy Grisham and a two brothers, William Parker and Walter Barrish. Mrs. Davis’ funeral will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 11:00 at St. Mark’s Church, 440 Keyes Rd., N. Utica where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Wednesday from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
