Mr. John J. Gotte, Jr., 84, a resident of the Pines at Utica nursing home, formerly of N. Utica, passed away on Friday, April 13, 2018 at the nursing home with his loving family by his side. John was born in Utica, on January 10, 1934, the son John J. Sr. and Priscilla (St. Dennis) Gotte and received his education at Proctor High School. John honorably served in the US army during the Korean War. At one time, John was married to Marylou Alito. He later married Lois M. Petrone. For many years, he was employed as a mason contractor in the Utica area. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was a huge NY Yankees, NY Giants and Dale Earnhardt fan. He was of the Catholic faith. Mr. Gotte is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine and Bruce Fedor of N. Utica, Michelle Gotte of South Carolina and Jennifer and Alan Bailey of Texas; four cherished grandchildren, Angela Gotte, Jeffery Fedor, Monica Gotte and Anthony Gotte; an adored great grandson, Dominic Gotte-Seymour; three brothers and five sisters-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Gotte of Rochester, Lenny and Elaine Gotte of Oneida, Raymond Gotte of Rochester, Linda Gotte of Sauquoit, Barbara Gotte of N. Utica and Sharon Gotte of Marcy as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, John J. Gotte, III, three grandsons, Gregory, John, IV and Daniel; two sisters, Yvonne Florentino and Aline Lee and three brothers, Alfred Gotte, Salvatore Gotte and Ken Gotte, Sr. Mr. Gotte’s funeral and military honors will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 12:00 noon at Christ Our Savior Chapel at Calvary Cemetery in Utica.
