Mrs. Audrey M. Ellis, 86, of N. Utica, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Pines at Utica nursing facility on Utica. Audrey was born in Utica on February 2, 1932 the daughter of William and Audrey (Skinner) Hughes and the step-daughter of Anthony Scalzo and received her education in Utica schools. On November 29, 1957, in Washington, DC, Audrey was united in marriage to Richard H. Ellis, a loving union of 52 years until Richard’s death in 2013. In her younger years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Richard, and more recently enjoyed cooking, crocheting, tending to her flower garden and will be remembered as an outstanding housekeeper. She was of the Protestant faith. Mrs. Ellis is survived by three brothers-in-law, Terrence Ellis, John Ellis and Robert Ellis; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Ellis and Faye Ellis; a dear friend, Cora Dikan as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In keeping with Audrey’s wishes there are no calling hours. Her funeral and burial, in St. Agnes Cemetery in Utica will be held at the convenience of her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
