Clinton – Esther R. Delaney, 88, lifelong resident of Clinton, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. Esther was born August 22, 1929, in Clinton, NY, the daughter of F. Raymond and Harriet (Macpherson) Restle. A 1947 graduate of Clinton Central Schools and Utica School of Commerce, Esther was employed at Hamilton and Kirkland Colleges for over 30 years. Esther was united in marriage with Donald J. Delaney on May 31, 1952 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clinton. She was involved in church and community activities throughout her life. Esther was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish and served as a board member and past president of the Historical Society. She was also an enthusiastic organizer of the Class of ’47 activities. Esther enjoyed ice skating, golfing, and was a lifelong fan of local hockey. Esther is survived by her daughters, Deborah Delaney of Utica, Susan Delaney-Ellis of Kirkland, and Kathleen Delaney of Utica; her beloved grandson, Alexander Delaney; her sister, Edith Drew of Clinton; nephews, Michael Drew and John Drew; great nephew, Brandon Drew; as well as several cousins. Esther is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Raymond, her husband, Donald, and her son-in-law, Chris Ellis. Mrs. Delaney’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton on Monday, from 4 – 6 pm.
