Mr. Adam F. Vitullo, 93, formerly of the Sunset Wood Apartment Complex in New Hartford, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Adam was born in Utica on April 20, 1924 the son of Francesco (Frank) and Rosalia (Gambino) Vitullo and received his education in Utica schools. Adam enlisted in the US army in 1943 and participated in the invasion of Salerno Italy as a combat infantryman during WWII. For 52 years, Adam was married to his beloved wife, Charlotte S. (Bord) Vitullo until her death in 2006. For many years, he was employed with Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, retiring in 1978. Adam was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans chapter 82, a member of American Legion Utica Post 229 in N. Utica, Sons of Italy Lodge 2054 and past President, past Zone Chairman, and past Deputy District Governor of the Lions Club where he was also Lion of the year. He was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in N. Utica. Mr. Vitullo is survived by a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Russell and Caroline Deetz of Sauquoit, who loving cared for Adam after the death of his wife Charlotte and Theresa Schofer of CA; nephews and nieces, Russell Deetz, Jr., Bradley Deetz, Jeffrey and Mylissa Deetz, Alan and Barbara Via, Larry Gobeille, Rosalie Dormio, Mary Beth Padulla and Susan Via and her husband Joseph as well as numerous great nieces and nephews to numerous to mention. He was predeceased by two sisters, Gertrude Gobeille and Marie Via. Mr. Vitullo's funeral will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, 422 Coventry Ave in N. Utica where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. A spring interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in N. Utica. In keeping with Adam's wishes, there are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., N. Utica.
