Obituary of Richard Carl Edick

Mr. Richard Carl Edick, 81, of N. Utica, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.
Richard was born, March 3, 1936 in Lowville, NY, the son of Fannie Peebles and received his education in Lowville Schools. He honorably served in The US Air Force from 1954-1958 and the Air Force reserves for three additional years. On September 5, 1970, in Whitesboro, Richard married Donna True. For 22 years, until his retirement in 2001, Richard was employed with Waste Management. He was later a coach/bus driver with Birnie Bus Service, Inc., in Rome NY and was currently a bus driver with Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY. Additionally, he drove bus for Pumpkin Coach and Coach USA Tour Buses. Richard was a member of American Legion Utica post 229 in N. Utica, and a member of the Mohawk Valley Blue Grass Association. He was a singer and guitarist for local country bands, and enjoyed Sunday afternoon country dancing and entertaining the residents at Sunset Nursing home in Boonville.
Mr. Edick is survived by his beloved wife, Donna; two daughters and one son-in-law, Richelle and Robert Ciota of Camillus, NY and Donna Lints of Ilion, NY; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert (Sonny) Lints of Phelps, NY, Timothy Lints of Frankfort, NY and Donald and Corrina Wood of Utica; a cherished grandson whom Richard and Donna raised as a son, Timothy Lints, Jr. and his fiancé Nancy Michaels; nine adored grandchildren, his first born grandchild, Michael Lints, Sarah Talerico and her husband, John, Jesse Lints, Christopher Lints and Brandy Sorto, Jordan Lints, Ashley Lints, Misty Lints, Donald Wood, Jr. and his wife Amie and Dyllan Wood; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Janet Hamlett of Utica and Karen and Virgil Jones of Lowville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Joyce Frank of Canton, NY and Cleon and Linda Peebles of Anaheim, CA as well as 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Fannie and son, Richard C. Edick, Jr.
Mr. Edick’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. His Spring burial will be in Grandview Cemetery in Whitesboro. Calling hours for family and friends are Saturday from 1:00-3:00 prior to the funeral Service.
