Mrs. Marie A. McMullen, 64, of N. Utica, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica with her loving family by her side. Marie was born in Utica on August 18, 1953, the daughter of Matthew S. and Helen (Rygielski) Zabko. After the untimely death of her parents, Marie was lovingly raised by her aunt, Antoinette Zabko, and was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales High School. On April 28, 1973, at St. Stanislaus Church in Utica, Marie was united in marriage to Fred L. McMullen. Marie’s career with the Utica City School District began at Seymour School in Utica and most recently as a teacher’s assistant-computers at JFK junior high school in N. Utica until her recent retirement on November 28, 2017. Marie enjoyed traveling with her husband, was always helping others and her greatest joy and happiness was spending time with her beloved family. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in N. Utica. Mrs. McMullen is survived by her loving husband, Fred; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Guidera of Utica; two sons, Matt McMullen and Mike McMullen both of Wisconsin; a cherished grandson, Andrew Guidera; one brother and sister-in-law, Matthew J. and Judy Zabko of Bloomfield, NY; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim and Carolyn McMullen of CA as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Aunt, Antoinette. Mrs. McMullen’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 10:00 at St. Peter’s Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
