Obituary of Maureen VonDeilen

Maureen VonDeilen, 94, a resident of the Masonic Care Community in Utica, formerly of Strawberry Hills Senior Mobil Park in Schuyler, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the nursing home.
Maureen was born on July 31, 1923 in Ireland, the daughter of James and Elizabeth O’Brien. She came to the United States at the age of 1, was raised and educated in Queens, NY and spent most of her life in Port Washington, Long Island. In the Early 1950’s Maureen married William H. VonDeilen and the couple shared a loving union until Williams death in 1971. At one time, she was employed as a secretary with Publishers Clearing House in Port Washington and later with Kimco Corporation in Roslyn, NY until her retirement. Maureen was an avid reader, and enjoyed listening to music, working with stained glass, painting and visits to the ocean. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Mrs. VonDeilen is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Ronald Woodward of Medford, Long Island, Patricia and Richard Mas of N. Utica and Barbara and Buddy Fichter of Carle Place, Long Island; nine cherished grandchildren, Michael Martuscelli, Billy Martuscelli, Susie Woodward, Jennifer Woodward, Jamie Fichter, Buddy Fichter, Paul Govin and his wife Jenine, Tim Govin and his wife Silvana and Deborah Kane and her husband Brandon; four adored great grandchildren, Emily Govin, Dylan Govin, Brittany Woodward and Michael Woodward; one sister, Jean Mullany of Seaford, Long Island; one sister-in-law, Mary O’Brien of FL as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Maureen VonDeilen and Catherine Collins, a grandson, Butch Woodward, Jr., and a brother, James O’Brien.
Mrs. VonDeilen’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Whitesboro where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours for family and friends are Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Mrs. VonDeilen’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff on Erie Household at the Masonic Care Community for the wonderful care and compassion given to Maureen.
