Therese J. Converse, 89, of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Therese was born in Rome, NY on October 16, 1928, a daughter of Michael and Mary (O'Keefe) Dempsey. On February 14, 1953 at St. Peter's Church, Rome, Therese was united in marriage to Carleton Converse, Sr., a blessed union of 36 years until his death in 1989. For several years Therese was employed with New York Telephone. Therese is survived by her six children, Carleton Converse, Jr., of Clinton, Tim Converse, Sr. and wife, Kathy, of Marcy, Mary Converse, of Clinton, Liz Droz, of Whitesboro, Wayne Converse and wife, Arlene, of Cicero, NY, and Kevin Converse, of Clinton, six grandchildren, Tim Converse, Jr. and wife, Jennie, of Pittsburg, PA, Brian Converse and wife, Lauren, of Abington, MA, Mary George and husband, Ryan, of Easton, MD, Joy Vanderhoof and husband, Capt. Andrew Vanderhoof, of Eagle River, AK, Matthew Converse and Justin Converse, both of Cicero, 7 great grandchildren, Luke, Audrey, Nolan, Xavier, Augustine, Christopher and Gabriel and several nieces and nephews. Therese was predeceased by 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Mrs. Converse's funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church, Utica. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rome, NY. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4-7.
