Obituary of Joseph W. Morelle

Joseph Walter Morelle, 60, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born in Utica on July 2, 1957, a son of the late Walter and Dolores Morelle. He proudly served in the Navy from 1975 to 1979. In Utica on December 4, 1983, Joseph was united in marriage to Cindy Indiveri. He was currently employed with the U.S. Postal Service. Joseph was also a well known chef in the Utica area, working at Grimaldi's and Chesterfield restaurants. He was the originator of (Greens Morelle) and was featured on Travel Channel's television show Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. Even though Joseph always cooked gourmet foods, he preferred to eat at McDonald's. He was an avid New York Giants football and San Francisco Giants baseball fan. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening but his family was the most important thing to him. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy, a son, Christopher Morelle and Karla Sgroi, of Syracuse, a daughter, Jamie Faniglula and husband, Christopher, of Deerfield, mother-in-law, Sadie Indiveri, of Utica, a sister-in-law, Carla Odell and husband, John and their children, John Odell and Catherine Longo, Johnny 5, and Austin Odell, a brother-in-law, Joseph Indiveri and his daughter, Jennifer Indiveri, two sisters, Donna Talerico and husband, Dick, of Syracuse and Debbie Wheelock and husband, Jim of West Winfield, a special cousin, Theresa Morelle and husband, Charlie, of Utica, special friends, Lisa and Salvatore Nicolette and many extended cousins and friends. Joseph is also survived by his canine companion, Joie. Joseph was predeceased by his parents Walter and Dolores, his father-in-law, Joseph Indiveri and his grandparents, Joseph and Theresa Morelle. The Morelle family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kussa and the staffs of the PCU, ICU and Emergency Room of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare for all the loving care given to Joseph. Mr. Morelle's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:30 at St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church, Utica. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make a donation to the Stevens- Swan Humane Society in Joseph's memory.
