Jeanie Marie Janus, 54, of Deansboro, formerly of the Bronx, NYC, NY, passed away at the Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, NY. Jeanie was born in the Bronx on April 27, 1963, the daughter of Fred Eisinger and Josephine Spiewak. She was raised and educated in the Bronx, and later graduated from Mercy College and then received her bachelor’s degree from Marywood University. Jeanie was employed as a teacher’s assistant in Scranton, PA before moving locally and working in the Utica school system. She then found a home with the New York Mills school, where she loved being. On July 19, 2008, Jeanie Marie married Ernie Janus in St. Joseph & St. Patrick’s Church. Jeanie was a very religious woman and had a personal encounter with Mother Teresa. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Clinton, but would also attend Masses at Holy Trinity as well as Sacred Heart & St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa churches. She was fluent in the Polish language, and a fantastic Polka dancer. She traveled all over the northeast with Ernie to various Polka dances. Jeanie Marie is survived by her husband, Ernie Janus, Deansboro; her son, Thomas Smith, Bayside, Queens, NYC; her mother, Josephine Malja, Fairfax, VA; her sister, Jane Malja, and her son Jaxon, Florida; her brother, Mark Malja, Virginia; her uncle and aunt, Stanley and Connie Spiewak, Front Royal, VA and their families; cousins, Richard and Antigone Olinski, Queens, Frank Olinski, Yonkers, as well as other in New York City and Connecticut. Also surviving are cousins, Christine and Wes Cameron, Marie Runyan, Richie and Sally Spiewak, Richard Kruger, and their families. Mrs. Janus’ funeral will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton, Thursday evening, from 4 – 7 pm. Those wishing may donate to The Dominican Sisters of Hawthorne at the Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532 in Jeanie’s memory.
