Obituary of Farlinger C. Raymo

Mr. Farlinger “Farley” C. Raymo, 78, of Deerfield, passed away on Monday, September 11, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side.
Farley was born in Massena, NY on April 1, 1939 the son of Allen and Florence (Farlinger) Raymo and received his education in Massena schools. He honorably served in the US Navy from 1957-1961 and was extremely proud to have served in the Navy Seabees. On September 3, 1964, Farley married Lura J. Edwards at First Christian Church in Brushton, NY. For many years he was employed as a high voltage lineman with the NY Power Authority retiring in 1994. Farley was a member of American Legion Utica post 229 in N. Utica, served on the Deerfield Zoning Board of Appeals and enjoyed spending time at the Deerfield Fish and Game Club. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman and woodworking enthusiast.
Mr. Raymo is survived by his beloved wife, Lura; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Kenneth Leahy of Rome; two sons and daughters-in-law, Martin and Daphne Raymo of Herkimer and Steve and Jane Raymo of Westbrook, ME; five cherished grandchildren, Patrick Leahy of Cortland, Kaitlyn Leahy of Derry, NH, Spencer Raymo of Herkimer, Samantha Raymo of Herkimer and Molly Raymo of Maine; a sister-in-law, Anne Raymo of AZ; five brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, James and Janet Edwards of TX, John and Nova Edwards of Brushton, NY, Phil and Carol Edwards of Bangor, NY, David and Kelly Edwards of Moira, NY and Dan and Brenda Edwards of Fulton, NY as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Gayle Reid and two brothers, William Raymo and Dennis Raymo.
Mr. Raymo’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 515 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial calling hours for family and friends are Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Mr. Raymo’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Charles Eldredge and Dr. Christopher Max for the wonderful care you provided to Farley. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Dialysis unit at the Masonic Care Community and nurses and staff at Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., for the loving care and compassion you showed to Farley during his illness.
