Mr. David A. Storms died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 27, 2017. David was born in Utica on April 29, 1954 and received his education in local schools. On July 28, 1979, he was united in marriage to Suzanne Young. For 20 years, David was employed with the Stanley Theater and more recently as building supervisor with the Observer Dispatch. David’s main focus in life was to provide a comfortable, secure, growth oriented life for his wife Suzanne and daughter Stacy (David) Ress. An avid motorcyclist with a very successful semi-pro racing career, he enjoyed international motorcycle touring, including 5 European countries, Australia and Baja Mexico. He earned a pilot certification and was a scuba diver having traveled to the South Pacific. His favorite memories were of RVing, boating and fishing on the St. Lawrence with his family and riding motorcycles with his many buddies, be it on the track, street or trails. His proudest achievements were his loving 38 years of marriage and raising his daughter to be very successful and not afraid of the world. Mr. Storms is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne of Marcy; daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and David Ress of Erie, PA; mother-in-law, Betty Young of Utica; sister-in-law, Deborah Young Cutler and three nephews, Keith Cutler, Chris Cutler and Joe Cutler. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Kenneth Young. Memorial calling hours for family and friends are Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, followed by a prayer and a time for family and friends to share memories of David. His interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
