Mrs. Ellen E. Hanna, 87, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., formerly of Utica, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale. Ellen was born in Utica on January 31, 1930 the daughter of Walter F. and Mary G. (Sinnott) Eichler. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On August 14, 1947, Ellen was united in Marriage to Edward A. Hanna at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, a devoted union of 62 years until Edward's death in 2009. For many years, Ellen assisted her husband at Hanna Manufacturing Corp. in Utica. She enjoyed playing bridge, watching movies and was a parishioner of Historic Old St. John's Church in Utica. Mrs. Hanna is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lisa Hanna of Hollywood, FL; two cherished granddaughters, Erin Hanna of Hollywood, FL and Brittany Laviano and her husband Anthony of Ft. Meyers, FL; two adored great granddaughters who she loved dearly, Brodie Hanna and Madison Laviano as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Paul Hanna in 1980 and Edward A. Hanna, Jr. in 2017. Mrs. Hanna's funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and 10:00 a.m. at Historic Old St. John's Church where her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Her Rite of Committal and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Utica.
