Mr. Thomas Michael Henderson, 56, of Utica, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends at the time of his passing. Thomas was born at the US Naval Station in Madagascar, Rabat, Morocco on April 22, 1961, the son of William Joseph and Ursula E. (Polte) Henderson. Thomas honorably served in the US Air Force from 1979-1983. He was the proud recipient of the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon and Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon. For 31 years, Thomas was employed as a correction Officer with The NY State Department of Corrections. Retiring in 2015. He was an avid Mets and Giants Fan. Mr. Henderson is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Brand and his wife Abbey of Rhode Island and Army CPL, Joseph Henderson and his wife Layla of Georgia; two cherished grandchildren, Jaiden and Grayson; his mother, Ursula Henderson of Beacon, NY; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Michelle Henderson of Beacon, NY; his God daughter Emma; dear friends, Wes, Mary, Kim, Scott, Bob and Kelly and Junior as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William, brother Joseph and best friend and companion, Lauren Hunter. Mr. Henderson's memorial service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. His Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Utica.
