Mrs. Sara M. Carucci, 97, a resident of the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center in Ilion, formerly of Utica, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at the home. Sara was born in Utica on January 5, 1920, the daughter of Frank and Concetta (Cortese) Giglio and received her education in Utica Schools. On October 10, 1967, Sara married Joseph J. Carucci. For many years until her retirement, she was employed as an office clerk with Mele Manufacturing in Utica. Sara was a former parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church in Utica and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her beloved family and dear friends. Mrs. Carucci is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John and Ida Giglio of Utica; sister, Katherine Ellis of Utica; niece, Dr. Lorraine Pittman and her husband Wayne and their son Chad of Oklahoma and nephew Frank Giglio. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 2010, brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Fran Giglio and Alfred and Marie Giglio and brother-in-law, George Ellis. Mrs. Carucci's funeral will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. Her Rite of Committal and entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville.
