Ruth Welter Dousharm, 97, of Holland Patent passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her home surrounded by the love of her family. Ruth was born in Forest City, PA on December 29, 1919, the daughter of John and Nellie (Meade) Welter. On September 14, 1940, Ruth married Frank F. Dousharm in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Utica, NY. The couple renewed their vows on their 50th Wedding Anniversary at St. Ann's Church, Hinckley, NY and shared 62 wonderful years before Frank passed away in 2002. Ruth worked for a short time at Mele Mfg. Co. but decided to be a stay-at-home mother and grandmother. Her relationship with her family and grandchildren was summed up in a sign posted on her front door. "There is No Place Like Grandma's Place Children Spoiled While You Wait" Mrs. Dousharm is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruth Ann and Allan (Patch) LaCombe, FL, Donna and Roy Ratley, Sr., Holland Patent, two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank L. and Susan Dousharm, Holland Patent, Dave and Ann Dousharm, Holland Patent, thirteen grandchildren, Michael and Kathy LaCombe, FL, Jim LaCombe, Watertown, Jacquie Kazmierczak, FL, Roy Ratley, Jr., Floyd, Jennifer and James Richards, Blossvale, Jonathan Ratley, Rome, Daniel and Kristina Ratley, FL, Matthew Ratley, Rome, Craig and Lisa Dousharm, WI, Christopher and Lisa Dousharm, Stittville, Brad and Sarah Dousharm, Dolgeville, David and Heather Dousharm, Barneveld, Paul and Shannon Dousharm, Barneveld, 26 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mabel, Freida, Pearl, Matilda, Edna, Jeanne, Isabella, brother John (Jack) Welter II. Mrs. Dousharm's funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 9:00 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 10:00 from St. Leo's Church in Holland Patent. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Holland Patent Volunteer Fire Department in Ruth's memory. We wish to thank Ruth's special caring angels, her home health aides, for the love and comfort shown to her.
