Matthew W. Owens, 38, of Whitesboro passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Matthew was born in New Hartford on July 6, 1979 a son of Diana (Sherman) Owens and the late William Owens. He was a 1999 graduate of Clinton High School and later attended SUNY Canton. Matthew was currently employed with Cooper Kia in Yorkville. Matthew enjoyed participating in all outdoor activities but his family brought more joy to him than anything else and whom he loved dearly. Matthew is survived by his mother, Diana Owens, his companion, Camille Kardashe, two sisters, Gretchen Wallace and husband, James of PA and Diana (O'Neil) Gowe of Utica, 3 brothers, Greg Owens of Utica, Adam Owens of Yorkville and William Owens of Yorkville and 8 nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his canine companion Sarge. Matthew was predeceased by his father, William Owens in 2014, a brother, Eric Owens in 2010 and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Matthews funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 11:00 from St. Joseph's and St. Patrick's Church, Utica. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica are Monday from 4-7.
