Jane Ann Martin, 74, of Marcy, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY, with her loving husband, best friend and high school sweetheart, Fred E. Martin, by her side, after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Utica on November 23, 1942, Jane was the only daughter of the late Richard and Agnes (Murray) Williams. She was united in marriage to Fred E. Martin at St. Peter’s Church, North Utica, on December 30, 1961. Jane retired from Fleet Bank after many years of service in both Utica and Frankfort. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Rome. A strong and faithful Irish-Catholic, Jane was devoted to her husband, her children and grandchildren, and loved her dogs. Jane and Fred were inseparable. Coming from modest circumstances, together they raised their children, and built a home and a life together. Jane is survived by her husband, Fred; her children and grandchildren, Diane Martin-Grande, of Rome and her children, Alexandra and Nicole Grande, James and his wife, Alison, of New Hartford, and his children, Benjamin, Samuel and Kathryn Martin, Christine Bartkowiak and her husband, Joseph, of Whitesboro, and her children, Adam and Ethan Linder, and Robert and his wife, Heather, of Bethlehem, NY and their children, Victoria and Cole Martin; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Betty Williams, of Marcy, William and Susan Williams, of North Utica, Robert and Marie Williams, of Remsen and John and Susan Williams, of New Hartford, and many nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by a brother Richard Williams. Mrs. Martin’s funeral will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 9:30 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:30 from St. Peter’s Church, Rome, NY. Burial will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday (today) from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Stevens-Swan Humane Society in Jane’s memory.
