Obituary of Dolores K. O'Connor

Dolores K. O'Connor, 100, of Yorkville passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare surrounded by her loving family. Dolores was born in Utica on June 4, 1916, a daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Minnie (Sprau) Kates, in a home that was built by her grandfather. She was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. At Sacred Heart Church, Utica on January 2, 1943, Dolores married Franklin J. O'Connor, a blessed union of 50 years until his death on May 29, 1993. Together the couple raised six children in their home in Yorkville, where she still resided. At one time Dolores was employed with the Otis Elevator Co. and later worked at the Boston Store in Utica. She was member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, New Hartford and St. James Major Church in Lake Pleasant and was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Utica. Dolores was an avid New York Mets fan, and spent numerous summers in the Adirondacks and winters in Florida. During her lifetime Dolores enjoyed traveling and exploring Great Britain and other European countries as well as touring the United States. Dolores is survived by her children, Kathleen Seiselmyer, of Yorkville, Kevin O'Connor and wife, Beverly, of Whitesboro, Anne Misiaszek and husband, Paul, of Riverview, FL and Christine O'Connor, of Yorkville, and a son-in-law, Peter Lambert, of Largo, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Dolores was predeceased by her two daughters, Joan O'Connor in 1993 and Patricia Lambert in 2010, a son-in-law, Paul Seiselmyer in 2010, two sisters, Helen McDonald and Dorothy Schram and a brother, Harry Kates Jr. Mrs. O'Connor's funeral will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 8:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica and at 9:00 from Our Lady of The Rosary Church, New Hartford. Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 3-6. Those so wishing may make donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Dolores' memory. The family will be forever grateful to Dr. Jerry Sloan for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Dolores and her family.
