Carol Bedell, 73, of Deerfield, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Faxton- St. Luke's Healthcare. Carol was born in Utica on October 2, 1943, a daughter of Anthony and Angeline (Rocco) Taurisano. She was a graduate of Proctor High School and SUNY Oswego. On August 20, 1966 Carol was united in marriage to Robert Bedell at Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica. For many years until her retirement she was a teacher in various schools in the Utica area. Carol was a member of the Newman Center of Utica College and St. Peter's Church, North Utica. Carol always enjoyed volunteering to tutor children. She derived great joy in coordinating and teaching in the First Communion Program at St. Peter's Church. Carol is survived by her husband, Robert, her three children, Robert Bedell and wife, Dr. Janice (Cannucciari) Bedell, Kelly MacLain and husband, James MacLain, and Kimberly Ionta and husband, Dr. David Ionta, eight beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Jared and Laura Bedell, Michaela, Emily and Regan MacLain, Bella and Gus Ionta, a sister, Marilyn LaBarbera and husband Joseph LaBarbera and a brother, Michael Taurisano and companion, Katherine Green. Carol was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Angela Taurisano. Mrs. Bedell's funeral will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 12:00 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica. There are no calling hours. A spring burial will take place in West Schuyler Cemetery. Those so wishing may make donations to the Boy Scouts of America, Leatherstocking Council, 1401 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501, in Carol's memory.
