Genevieve Joanne (Lupa) Allen, RN, of Utica was called by the angels to join her family in heaven on Friday, January 13, 2017 with her loving family by her side. Genevieve was born on April 22, 1920 in Utica, NY. She was the daughter of Albert and Mary Lupa. On June 25, 1946, Genevieve married John (Pantola) Allen in Holy Trinity Church. Genevieve graduated from Holy Trinity School and St. Francis De Sales High School. Genevieve then worked at St. Joseph’s Infant Home in Utica. She so loved caring for children that she attended Monmouth Memorial Medical Center in New Jersey. She then received her R.N. license. Gen worked as a nurse at Continental Can Co., Bendix and General Electric as an Industrial Nurse. Genevieve lived her life as her profession dictated to her. Gen often sent packages to her relatives in Poland, Europe and donated to many charities. Genevieve was a member of the Sacred Heart Church Bereavement Committee. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles and helping her daughters with school projects. Gen was often heard praying and reciting the rosary. Gen loved to watch the Religious Channel. Genevieve leaves her beloved husband, John, and children, Mrs. Sheila (Stan) Swiderek, Mrs. Kristina (Walter) Bozek, Mrs. Suzann (Terence) Holden and Mr. Jeffrey (Michelle) Allen. Genevieve leaves her grandchildren, Dr. Melanie (John) Howard, Dr. Walter (Jennifer) Bozek, Michael Swiderek, Jennifer (Matt) Bachtel, Lisa (James) Kaplewicz, Daniel (Sarah) Bozek, Hillary Holden and Terence Holden and fiancé Katie Sowyrda. Great grandchildren include Kaitlyn, Tyler and Allie Bachtel, Trevor and Isabella Kaplewicz and Lucy Bozek. Genevieve was predeceased by her sister, Mrs. Walter (Gladys) Dinger, brother Henry Lupa and granddaughter, Pamela Jean Swiderek. Mrs. Allen’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St. and at 10:00 at Church of the Sacred Heart and St. Mary Our Lady of Czestochowa, New York Mills. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday from 4 – 7. Those so wishing may make donations to the International Myeloma Foundation.
