Cynthia Ann Salerno, 57, of Deerfield and Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her loving family by her side. Cyndi was born in Utica on August 3, 1959, a daughter of John and Helen (Ellis) Salerno. She was a graduate of Whitesboro High School and later attended MVCC, Russell Sage College and graduated from Utica College. Cyndi began her working career with Bassett Hospital and later worked for Proctor and Gamble Co. For the past 25 years she owned and operated Ellis Salerno Consulting, LLC, in Kentucky. Cyndi loved dogs, interior decorating, shopping and collecting art. In her spare time, Cyndi derived joy in volunteering her time to help others. Cyndi is survived by her parents, John and Helen Salerno, of Deerfield, her three siblings, John Salerno and wife, Barbara, of Deerfield, Jackie Sherry and husband, Jim, of Ellicott City, MD and David Salerno and wife, Sue, of North Utica, seven nieces and nephews, Steven Salerno, Eric Salerno and wife, Megen, Nicole Salerno, Matthew Sherry, Amanda Sherry, Dominick Salerno and Stephanie Salerno, a great niece, Olivia and a canine companion, Willow. Cynthia's funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 at 10:00 from St. Mark's Church, North Utica. There are no calling hours. Those so wishing may make donations to the ALS Foundation or the Stevens Swan Humane Society in Cynthia's memory.
