CLINTON – Edward J. Stefanski, 86, of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, New Hartford.
Ed was born July 15, 1930, in Utica, the son of John and Sophie (Kopera) Stefanski. He was raised and educated in Utica. Ed served his country with the US Marines during the Korean War. On February 3, 1951, Ed married Esther Green, sharing a union of 65 years. He was employed with Utica Boilers, retiring in the early 90’s. Ed was involved with the beginning of the First Utica Boilermaker Race and also ran in it. He enjoyed golf and bowling, and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Ed is survived by his wife, Esther Stefanski, Clinton; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Lon McDaniel, Alabama, Nancy and William Chromczak, Whitesboro; three grandchildren, Lonnie (& Jennifer) McDaniel, Mississippi, Krystal Chromczak, Rotterdam, Jessica (& Greg) Majecki, Marcy; four great-grandchildren, Gracie Sundstrom, Alabama, Nathan McDaniel, Mississippi, Maksymilian Majecki, Marcy, Izabela Majecki, Marcy. Also surviving are in-laws, Eileen Stefanski, Florida, Shirley and Bob Skuse, New Hartford, and George and Evelyn Green, Utica, as well as many nieces and nephews. Ed is predeceased by a granddaughter, Bridget Meenan; four sisters, Mary Ridell, Helen Roback, Alice LaManque, Dolores Ellis; two brothers, Walter and John Stefanski.
Mr. Stefanski’s funeral services, entrusted to the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica, will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may donate to the American Heart Association in Ed’s memory.
