Lawrence F. Bednarczyk, 96, of Utica, passed away on November 28, 2016 at the Masonic Care Community. Lawrence was born in Herkimer on July 18, 1920, a son of Valentine and Mary (Pemgimosz) Bednarczyk. He served in the Army during World War II, stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. On February, 19, 1949, Lawrence was united in marriage to Charlotte A. Zaleski, at St. Joseph's Church in Herkimer, a blessed union of 66 years until her passing on January 17, 2015. Lawrence was employed with Utica Drop Forge and later at Chicago Pneumatic. He was a parishioner of St. Mark's Church, North Utica and a member of the American Legion Post 1113, Whitestown and VFW Post #7393, New York Mills. Lawrence is survived by a daughter, Elaine Bednarczyk, Utica, a son, Ronald Bednarczyk, Huntsville, AL., two grandchildren, Miki and Stefan Bednarczyk, Huntsville, AL, and two brothers, Chester Bednarczyk , Utica and Joseph Bednarczyk, Utica and several nieces and nephews. Lawrence was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Bednarczyk. Mr. Bednarczyk's funeral with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4 - 7.
