Obituary of John J. Rumbutis

John J. Rumbutis, Sr., 92, of Deerfield passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Abraham House. John was born in Kirkland, NY on December 23, 1923, a son of the late Frank and Rose (Pysz) Rumbutis. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in the European Theatre and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. John married Ann Perlock at Holy Trinity Church, Utica on November 22, 1951. For many years until his retirement, John was employed with the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. Throughout his life he enjoyed camping, fishing, ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing watching the Yankees and Western movies. John is survived by his wife, Ann, his three children, Karen Gilot and husband, James, of Whitesboro, Kathy Waterman and husband, Gerard, of Schuyler and John (Jack) Rumbutis, Jr. and wife, Lucy, of South Utica, six grandchildren, James Gilot and wife Christin, Bryan Waterman and Kayla Barrett, Kyle Waterman, Matthew Gilot, Jaclyn Rumbutis and Dan Simpkins and Erin Rumbutis, three great grandchildren, Cameron Gilot, Aiden Miller and Caleb Miller and three step grandchildren, Renee, Marie and Joya along with many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Edward (Monty) Perlock. John was predeceased by three sisters, Agnes Wind, Emily Swider and Helen Thomas and three brothers, Stanley, Frank and Louis Rumbutis. Mr. Rumbutis's funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., Utica and at 10:00 from Historic Old St. John's Church, Utica. Burial will be in St.'s Stanislaus & Casimir Cemetery, Whitesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to the Abraham House in John's memory. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Lynn Paquette of the VA, staffs of the ER and 3rd and 4th floors of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Dr.'s Gaetano, Booth and Girsham, Deb Cardinal , staff of the Abraham House and caregivers Bonnie, Tania, Stephany and Donna for all the loving care given to John.
