Mr. Eugene (Gene) Stanley Zagorski, Sr., 85, of Utica, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 with his loving family by his side. Gene was born in Utica on March 31, 1931 the son of John and Rose (Gaska) Zagorski. He was raised and educated locally and was a graduate of Proctor High School. Gene proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War. On April 23, 1955, Gene married Anna B. Zientek at Holy Trinity Church in Utica. For 45 years, he was employed with General Electric Company in Utica, retiring in 1990. Gene was a member of VFW Malson Jones post 7393, NY Mills, American Legion post 1113, Whitesboro and Polish Legion of American Veterans, USA, Walter Skiba post 20 in Utica. He had a real passion for fishing, hunting and golf. Gene was a parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Utica. Mr. Zagorski is survived by his beloved wife Anna; three sons, Kenneth Zagorski of Utica, Eugene Stanley, Zagorski Jr. and his wife Sandy of Utica and Michael Zagorski and his wife Michele of Hyde Park, NY; 8 cherished grandchildren, Brittany, Sarah and John Zagorski of Hyde Park, Tiffany Zagorski of Utica, Alicia Zagorski of Largo, FL, Shane Coher of Syracuse, Jamie Lin Hogarth of Louisville, KY and his special granddaughter, Melissa Zagorski of Utica who was like a daughter to Gene, always there, lovingly caring for him; four great grandchildren, Collin, Mason, Nicholas and Alexandra as well as several nieces, and nephews to numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanne Zagorski, son, John Michael Zagorski, grandson, Mathew Coher; brother, Chester Zagorski and 3 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Phyllis and Jacob Firlit, Stella and Matt Konar and Ann Goodrich. Mr. Zagorski’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Utica where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyrs Cemetery in Whitesboro. There are no calling hours.
