Arild Dahl, 86, of Westmoreland, passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare Center, New Hartford, after a long illness. Arild was born May 9, 1931 in Tromso, Norway, the son of Bjarnne and Hardina (Olsen) Dahl. He was raised and educated in Norway, and had been employed as the Chief electrician for the Norwegian Shipping Line. Upon moving to the United States, he was employed with Revere Copper Products in Rome. On February 24, 1978, Arild married Cynthia Roberts. He was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Clark Mills. Arild is survived by his wife, Cindy Dahl, Westmoreland; four daughters and a son-in-law, Erica Dahl, Florida, Erin and Hank Porter, Sauquoit, Hardina Dahl, Manhattan, Elida Dahl, Florida; a son, Herb Dahl, Florida; seven grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter, Dane, Adrian, Chase, Ella, and Mackenzie, as well as many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two nieces, Reidun Dahl, Norway, and Turid Dahl Albrigtsen, Norway. Arild is predeceased by two sisters, Dagmar Anddreassen and Bjorg Pederrson, and one brother, Nikken Dahl. Mr. Dahl’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 6 pm at the Heintz Funeral Home, 10 East Park Row, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 3 – 6 pm, prior to the service. Interment, in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton, will take place at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may donate to the Alzheimer’s Association–Central New York Chapter, or to the American Cancer Society in Arild’s memory.
