Mrs. Barbara Barth Joswick, 75, of Whitesboro, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford with her loving family by her side. Barbara was born in Utica on January 26, 1941 the daughter of John and Beatrice (Gates) Barth. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On June 23, 1958, Barbara married Stephen M. Joswick at Olivet Presbyterian Church. For 30 years, Barbara was employed with Martin Luther King School in Utica. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Utica, a member and past secretary of the Road-Knights of Central New York car club and she also took sign language classes. Mrs. Joswick is survived by her beloved husband, Stephen; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shari and Kenneth Shobe of Georgia and Vicki and Thomas Borgia of Georgia; one brother, John Barth of Albany as well as 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 2 nieces, 2 nephews and her faithful canine companion, Sophie. She was predeceased by an infant son, Stephen Joswick and a daughter, Debra DeNigro. Mrs. Joswick’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Utica.
