Mr. David W. Fischer, 58, of Barneveld, passed away unexpectedly of Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center with his loving family by his side. David was born in New Hartford on March 20, 1958 the son of Roger and Kotzie (Johnson) Fischer. He was raised and educated in Utica and was a graduate of John F. Kennedy high school. David proudly served in The US Navy from 1978-1982. On June 20, 1987, David married Wanda Wiley. For many years, he was employed as an implant specialist with Gardali Crown and Bridge Lab in Utica retiring in 2014. David enjoyed model air planes, attending baseball games, spending time at his family camp on Raquette Lake and received his greatest joy from spending time with his granddaughter, Abigail. He was a member of the former Moravian Church of the Good Shepherd in New Hartford. Mr. Fischer is survived by his wife Wanda; one daughter, Heather Fischer of Barneveld; one son, Michael Fischer of Utica; a cherished granddaughter, Abigail; one sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Corky Risley of Utica and Raquette Lake; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Mary Fischer of Charlotte, NC and Aaron and Marybeth Fischer of Utica; three sisters-in-law, Claudia Wiley of Sherrill, Barbara Brennan and her husband Jim of Buffalo and Gail Planck and her husband Warren of Sherrill as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his niece, Katie Bland. Mr. Fischer's funeral will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. His interment will be held at the convenience of his family. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday from 4:00-7:00 prior to the service.
