Gail K. Swalgin, 76, of N. Utica, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Heritage Health Care Center in Utica with her devoted daughter Karie by her side. Gail was born in Utica on December 5, 1939 the daughter of John G. and Nellie (Schneider) Kratzenberg. She was raised in Utica and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. In 1958, Gail married Jack G. Taylor. For over 20 years, Gail was employed with and managed Whitesboro Limo and Driving School. She later worked at Baileys Stop and Shop in Hinckley, NY. Gail was a huge Dale Ernhart, Jr. fan and was a member of Life Tabernacle Church in Whitesboro. She received her greatest joy spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Gail is survived by her daughter, Karie Lynn deSouza of N. Utica; son, William (B.T.) Taylor of Trenton; three cherished grandchildren, Geremias, Nikolina and Taylor; two sisters and one brother-in-law, June and David Rank of Ilion and Sharon Manning of Prospect; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Rodney "Gus" and Linda Kratzenberg of Newport and Susan Kratzenberg of Forestport; her in-laws, Ethel and Jerome Alexander of Floyd, Janice and Allen St. Germaine of Yorkville, Hyzer and Shelva Taylor of Newport, Brian and Shirley Tayler of Morehouse and Kathy Taylor of Floyd, well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband and lifelong friend, Jack Taylor, son, Timothy Taylor, son-in-law, Mika deSouza and brother, Robert John Kratzenberg. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica. A memorial service and celebration of Gail's life will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation with Rev. Mark Waterman officiating. The family would like to thank all of their friends and family who have been so kind and supportive with their continual prayers during Gail's extended illness.
