Obituary of Anna F. Kochan

Our precious Anna Frances Kochan, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2016, at her home in Yorkville, at the age of 88, becoming one of God's angels. Anna was born in Deerfield on December 8, 1927, a daughter of the late John and Mary Mack. On July 14, 1951 Anna was married to Chester J. Kochan at St. Peter's Church in North Utica. She and her husband raised their children on their farm in Newport, NY. Anna was predeceased by her husband on September 14, 1983. An avid bowler, Anna also loved gardening, sewing, cooking and baking, especially her many, many pies and dozens upon dozens of Christmas cookies. As family matriarch over many years, Anna's true passions were her family and her church. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary in New Hartford. She deeply adored her many siblings, children and grandchildren and delighted in presiding over family dinners, gatherings and holidays over the years never neglecting to prepare authentic Polish cuisine for her loved ones. Anna is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Joanne and Douglas Thomas of Schuyler, Diane and Kit Van Name of Newport; her sons and their wives, David and Suzanne Kochan of Newport, Gery and Dawn Kochan of Schuyler; her grandchildren, Benjamin Kochan and Sheena Morris, Jacob and Tracey Kochan, Dennis Gaetano and Heather Kliphon, Abigail and Troy Campbell, Chelsy Van Name, Danielle Van Name and Tayler Kochan; and her adored great grandchildren, Frank Gaetano, Ayanna Campbell, Liam Kochan and Delilah Kochan. She is also survived by her siblings and their spouses, Harry and Charlotte Mack, John Mack, Bertha Nebush, Theresa and Calvin Anacker, Sally and Edward Kuta, Carolyn Barnes and Catherine Mack, as well as many nieces and nephews. Anna was predeceased by her son, James C. Kochan; her grandson, James C. Kochan II; and her brother, Edmund Mack. Calling hours will be held Friday, June 24, from 4-7 pm, at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, North Utica. Anna's funeral will commence Saturday, June 25, at 10:15 am at the funeral home and at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Rosary, Burrstone Road, New Hartford. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in North Utica. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Joseph Booth, his staff, and Hospice and Palliative Care with special acknowledgement to Crystal, Irene and Anne.
