Obituary of Eric Alan Duck

Eric Alan Duck, 51, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on June 15, 2016. Eric was born December 31, 1964 in Utica, the son of Edward T. and Betty A. (Fischer) Duck. He was raised and educated locally and received his degree in Criminal Justice from MVCC. Eric had been employed with the Observer-Dispatch before going on to serve with the Utica Police Dept. for over 20 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club, Deerfield. Eric enjoyed spending his time at Raquette Lake in the Adirondacks, and especially loved being with his children. Eric is survived by his three cherished children, Ethan, McCullough, and Kade Duck, New Hartford; his mother, Betty Duck, Utica; three brothers, Mark Duck, Utica, Scott (& fiancée, Debra Chrobak) Duck, Clinton, Christopher M. Duck, Utica; a nephew, Scott Duck; and a niece, Sydney Duck, as well as by many dear and special cousins. Relatives and friends may call at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., North Utica, from 4 – 7 pm, prior to Mr. Duck’s memorial service, which will be held Thursday evening, June 23, 2016 at 7 pm. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to a charity of your choice in Eric’s memory.
