Rose C. (Catrombone) Voce, 96, lovingly known as Ricky, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. Rose was born in Utica on March 28, 1921, the youngest of six children to Saverio and Rosaria (Cristo) Catrombone. Rose was united in marriage to Joseph A. Voce on June 19, 1948 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Utica, a blessed union of 58 years until his death on October 27, 2006. During World War II Rose worked at the Savage Arms Co. and was one of the original "Rosie the Riveters". Later for many years she was employed with General Electric in Utica. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church, N. Utica. Ricky always enjoyed cooking and baking especially for family and friends during the holidays. Rose is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Frank A. Papale, of Deerfield, a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph S. and Paula Voce, of San Antonio, TX, six grandchildren, Bethany Papale and Ben Gelfuso who Rose considered like a grandson, Tami Sparta, Tara Rose Cardenas, Michelle Perez, Misty Harrell and Summer Martinez and their families. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by 1 brother, 4 sisters and their spouses, Nick and Betty Catrombone, Anna and Peter Bianco, Frances and Anthony (Sailor) Nicotera, Elizabeth and Fred Nicotera and Jesse (Josephine) and Nick Barbero. Mrs. Voce's funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 9:15 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 10:00 from St. Peter's Church where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. David J. Orzel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 4-7. In lieu of flowers the family requests that Mass Cards be considered. The family would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers for their dedication and help and Father Orzel for his support and pastoral care.
