Obituary of Anthony Dominick Sandouk

Anthony Dominick Sandouk, 45, of New Hartford, passed away after his yearlong battle with cancer on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester NY with his loving family and girlfriend by his side. Anthony was born in New Hartford on September 6, 1970 the son of Louis A. and Patricia "Patsy" (Sciortino) Sandouk. He was raised and educated locally, was a 1988 graduate of Notre Dame High School and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester where he was a proud member of Theta Delta Chi Fraternity. After graduating, Anthony was employed as a golf pro with numerous golf clubs, including; Seawane Golf Club in Hewlett Harbor NY, The Kittansett Club in Marion, MA and Wentworth By The Sea Country Club in Portsmouth, NH. He was also a teaching pro at Stratton Golf School in Stratton, VT. He was later employed as an investment counselor with Dean Witter investment Company. Anthony continued his education at Keiser University Center for Culinary Arts in Sarasota, FL. He went on to cook in various restaurants in Florida and then in the Utica area, currently working as a chef at Alee's Restaurant in Utica where he truly loved his job and the wonderful people he worked with. Anthony was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast and was a huge NY Mets and NY Giants fan. Anthony is survived by his father, Louis A. Sandouk and his partner Judith Ansley of Naples, FL; his only sibling, Lisa Sandouk-Romanelli and her husband Dr. Donald F. Romanelli, Jr. and two cherished nieces, Sarah and Grace Romanelli of Prides Crossing, MA; his true love and friend, Terese Palumbo who was always by his side and with him through every appointment and treatment during his illness; his maternal grandmother, Felicia Sciortino of Utica; aunts and uncle, including his mother's twin sister, Marion and Frank Gerace of New Hartford and Jeannie Trippe of Utica; cousins, Becky Gerace Kogut, her husband Mark and their daughter, Sydney; Victor Gerace and his fiancée Jolene Stocking; Felicia LaGasse, her husband Ken, and their Children, Owen and Blake and Kathleen G. Sandouk. Also special friends, Dr. Anthony and Phyllis Palumbo of New Hartford. Anthony leaves behind many friends, to many to name, including his classmates from Blessed Sacrament and Notre Dame, fraternity brothers, golf partners, those in his culinary career, sports and drinking buddies-all of whom brought out his beautiful and mischievous smile. He was predeceased by his mother, Patricia (Patsy) Sandouk whom he deeply loved and who's passing affected him greatly; grandfather, Dominick Sciortino; grandparents, Anthony and Susan Sandouk; uncle, George Sandouk; and his cousin, Alexandra Kogut. Anthony's memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Memorial Mass. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Utica. The family and Terese extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Patrick Reagan, Anna Morrison, RN and the entire staff at Wilmot Cancer Center, the Medical ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital and the staff at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital for the loving care and compassion given to Anthony and his entire family. Their kindness will not be forgotten. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heintz Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton.
