Albert C. LaGray, 86, of Deerfield, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare with his loving family by his side. Albert was born in St. Regis Falls, NY on July 16, 1929, a son of the late Doris and Harriet (Gardner) LaGray and grew up on Azure Mountain. He proudly served in the Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. Albert was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Williams on May 7, 1955 at St. Agnes Church in Utica. For many years he was employed at the Mohican Bakery and then later until his retirement the New York Bakery. Albert was a member of St, Mark's Church, North Utica, American Legion Post #229, V.F.W. Post #282, Remsen, and the Deerfield Seniors. He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting and in his earlier years he enjoyed hunting, fishing gardening but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Albert is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, two daughters, Kim Grower and husband Jack, Town of Ohio and Susan LaGray, North Utica, three grandchildren, Heather Grower and Ryan Tummons, Lake Placid, Gregory DeBernardis, Jr. and Amanda Shultz, Rome and Megan DeBernardis, Utica and in-laws, Jeanette LaGray, Utica, Joan and Jake Vine, New Hartford, Suzanne Kratzenberg, Forestport, Ann Rose, New Hartford, Richard and Janice Williams, FL, Donald and Judy Williams, SC, and James and Mary Williams, Hinckley and many nieces and nephews. Albert was predeceased by three brothers, Edgar and Marge LaGray, Vincent LaGray and Edwin LaGray, in-laws, Sara and Dan Cozza and a nephew, Paul Cozza. Mr. LaGray's funeral will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 8:45 from the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica and at 9:30 from St. Mark's Church, N. Utica. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Utica. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday from 4-7. Those so wishing may make donations to St. Mark's Church or the Wounded Warriors Project in Albert's memory.
